Authentic/Classic Feng Shui vs. US-style Feng Shui
Authentic, classical Feng Shui is rooted in a deep understanding of the ancient philosophical treatise, the I Ching, and the cosmic trinity of Tien, Di, Ren. The Chinese divide a human being's life, or luck, into the trinity of Heaven (Tien) Luck, Man (Ren) Luck, and Earth (Di) Luck, with 33 1/3% granted to each.
Heaven Luck is what you're born with: your gender, family, height, skin color, things you can't change about yourself. Man Luck is what you choose to believe in, think, associate with, and the consequences of that in your daily life. Earth Luck represents the forces of nature over which you have no control, but which affect you nonetheless. The popular Black Hat Tibetan Feng Shui (BHT), invented by Professor Lin Yun of Berkeley CA in the 1980s, relies upon aspirations, or beliefs, couched in popular Chinese symbols. BHT Feng Shui belongs in the world of Man Luck where you must ‘believe to see it'. Believing that painting your walls beige will cure insomnia is an example of this wishful thinking.
Authentic, classical Feng Shui, on the other hand, operates on the level of Earth Luck. It works whether you believe in it or not, and with or without your consent. It operates on laws, not beliefs. Authentic, classical Feng Shui formulas are based on electromagnetic energies and frequencies and 3,000 years of applied science.
You can change your Earth Luck from 33 1/3% to over 50% if you know what you're doing. Sometimes, with powerful water formulas, you can achieve a provable 80%.
